Missions are the manner in which players can advance through the world of Etherea. Completing Missions is not only your Nidarian Duty, it unlocks new areas on the map. Missions are assigned at the Mission Deployment counter on the Nidarian Docks by the Deployment Officer, located by the Shopping Floor access rig.
Maps are marked as follows:
Red, yellow, green, blue, and white dots: Objectives.
Yellow arrows:Bulbwall. Bulbwalls are only traversable one way in the direction the arrow is pointing. Bulbwalls do not respawn once killed.
Pink rectangles:Haze. Haze is usually bypassed with switches.
Green squares: Switches. They are used to remove Haze.
Black rectangles: Other blocked paths. This includes miscellaneous things like the doors to Gearlock Factory or the manhole at the Sewer Inlet, etc.
For what other quests become available after each Mission, see the Sidequests page.
IMPORTANT: If you are only looking for the solution to one specific mission, you may want to find its specific mission page. This page may be a spoiler alert for you.
NPC: We've sent some Rook scouts down to the West End Ruins in Steamport City, but they've been having trouble with pockets of haze blocking their passage through the area. We have some Ether Tube installations in the area for protection, but someone or something has switched off the power to these tubes, allowing the haze to linger. Make your way through the ruins and clear these pockets of haze, and meet up with the Rook Commander stationed near the factory to fill him in.
NPC: A new breed of Mimic has suddenly spread through the West End Ruins, and the Rooks stationed there haven't been able to contain the threat. They're calling these beasts Pustossers, as they've been aggressive in throwing haze-filled tumors at any Rooks trying to attack. Drop down to the Ruins and hunt down these Pustossers, at last count there were 15 of them spreading through the area.
NPC: It seems those Pustossers originated from the old Gearlock Factory on the edge of the West End Ruins. Something is happening inside that building, but we don't have the troops to spare to check into it. We've opened the main doors, so head west to the Factory and take care of any threat that's brewing inside.
NPC: Now that you've defeated the Aeromimic in the Factory, we've noticed a disturbance coming from the Sewers. Unfortunately the Sewers at the Inlet are flooded, so we need to find a working sump pump to drain the water before you enter. A troop of Rooks has cleared the haze beyond the Aeromimic chamber, so head to the Gearlock Factory to see if they've found any machinery that could help drain the Sewers.
NPC: We've made the supply drop to restore the Sump Pump. Unfortunately the crates of supplies are scattered, and some Mimics have taken to guarding the packages. Are these creatures smarter than we give them credit for? At any rate, find the supply crates and deliver the parts to the Rook at the FactorySump Pump. You should find all the crates in the outside West End Ruins area.
NPC: While we've been waiting for the Sewers to drain, the Gearlock Factory has been overrun with a band of large Bulkskin Mimics. They haven't ventured outside yet, so you'll just need to hunt inside the Gearlock Factory to exterminate these 15 Bulkskins.
NPC: We finally have access to the Steamport Sewers. We've sent a number of Rooks in to install a circuit of Ether Tubes for protection, and to scout ahead for the disturbance we've been noticing coming from below. We've gotten word that one of our Rooks got trapped in a pocket of haze while installing an Ether Tube new the Inlet entrance. He's still alive thanks to his gas mask, but he's weak and delirious, unable to escape from the cloud of haze. Find your way to the Ether Tube's power switch, and free this stranded Rook from his prison.
Tip: Having trouble as a ferric getting through that one map? There's a shortcut here. Step 1(red): Drop to the bottom through the steam and go to the end. Go to the wall and jump as close as you can and cling onto the wall. Step 2 (yellow): Jump outwards, and quickly do a double jump onto the platform to the right. If you hit the spikes, try again. Step 3 (blue): Exit the map to the right.
NPC: We're detecting a large disturbance in the eastern branch of the Steamport Sewers, but we don't have enough circuits in the area to power another set of protective Ether Tubes. There's a western branch of the Sewer that had a circuit installed, which we'll need to redirect so we can power this new stretch of tunnels. Once you turn off that circuit, there's a good chance that haze will start filling that tunnel, so you'll have to escape back to the main Sewer branch. After being exposed to thick haze for more than 2 minutes of so, you'll be knocked unconscious, so better be quick about it.
Click to enlarge & view arrows. Each blue dot on the map represents a Quilltoad in that room. Notice that there is one Quilltoad in the top left corner of the room behind the bridge (circled in red). That Quilltoad is very easy to miss.
NPC: Just as we started making progress in the Sewers, another pack of aggressive Mimics have rushed in to slow us down. These new beasts are called Quilltoads, and their darts are very poisonous. They're spread through the West End Ruins and open Sewers - we've at least kept them out of Gearlock Factory. Find and defeat these 20 Quilltoads so we can finish our job in Steamport City.
Many people may have gotten stuck on this quest because there are a few sneaky quilltoads that many people miss. The last Quilltoad could be any of the Quilltoads on the map. Most likely, however, you have missed the Quilltoad under the bridge. It is circled in red on the map to the left.
If it is not under the bridge, try the purple circles.
A poster was also created to mock players having trouble with this quest and celebrate the infamy of the quest. You can buy this poster for 1800 Spores or 250 Brass at Wystan.
NPC: We've finally found what we've been searching for in Steamport City, but it's being guarded by a monstrous Mimic. Defeat the Flybeast Guardian, and recover the object in the chamber beyond!
Reward: New Sprocket (Skystone 101: Skystone Remnant), Steamport City Trophy, 200 spores
NPC: Commander Harris has led a small party of Rooks into the Hatchwood Wilds, where it seems another Skystone Remnant is hidden. Find your way to the Rook Commander and learn of his progress towards the Remnant.
NPC: Firegrub Mimics have spread from the wildfire into untouched areas of the Thicket Woods. Some have burned through dry logs and opened access to unexplored areas. Find and exterminate all 12 of the Firegrubs before the entire forest is ablaze!
Notes: After killing one Firegrub, you might want to return to Nidaria and get "Firegrub Study" (CY0004) from Cypress to begin collecting Firegrub Heads as you kill the rest. You won't be able to finish the quest until you open the Charred Forest to have access to more Firegrubs.
The yellow dot is Juniper, and the red line is the path from the camp gate. If you mess up any of the elevator puzzles, you can reset them at the camp gate.
NPC: The Rooks have made contact with a Ferric Warrior from a nearby camp. The Ferrics are opening up their southwest gate to allow for your entrance. As a Ferric customary sign of good faith, please take this medallion necklace to the Ferric Chief, and see if they have any information on this wildfire situation.
NPC: The Ferrics have been helpful by leaving their entrance open to the camp. Unfortunately, one of the humanoid Mimics used this entrance to infiltrate the camp. The Mimic made its way to the Chief's chamber, where it was cornered by her bodyguards before tearing its way through the wall. Chief Juniper is upset by these events, and demands that we take full responsibility. Explore the rest of the camp and find this humanoid Mimic.
NPC: While the Ferric warriors were protecting their Chief, the eastern barricade doors they were supposed to be guarding, were breached by Stinkstrider Mimics. The rest of the camp is opened, so hunt down and exterminate all of the invading Stinkstriders.
NPC: Nidaria has developed some new retro-fitted Waterpacks for the Rooks on the ground, and have done a supply drop in the Thicket Woods with these items. Explore the Woods area to find the drops, and deliver the packs to the Rooks waiting at the wall of fire.
NPC: While waiting for the Fire Brigade to do their work below, you are in charge of putting out several fires that have occurred around Camp Calluna. Use Watergrubs to your advantage when fighting the fires, and be sure to find all 10 locations.
NPC: The Fire Brigade has gotten the forest fire under moderate control, though ten Rooks haven't returned from firefighting. Enter the newly-revealed Charred Forest and find the 10 Rooks that are trapped. Use the surrounding Mimics such as Watergrubs and Embermites to help in your rescue efforts.
NPC: Moving closer towards the supposed Remnant site, a new type of Mimic called Crawbacks have toppled a tree barrier and infiltrated the Charred Forest. They have been laying in wait at the edge of the fires, where a small pond must have kept them safe from the flames. Now that the fire has receded, they have emerged and scattered. Hunt down these Crawbacks in the newly-accessible and previously-explored areas of the Charred Forest.
NPC: We are finally closing in on the site of the Skystone Remnant. A wall of haze seems to be the last hazard in our way, though this Remnant may also be protected by a Mimic Guardian as before. Take this glass circuit tube to the waiting Rook, which should dissipate the haze and allow you access to the chambers beyond.
NPC: A Pillar of Haze has been spotted coming from Deadrock Canyon in the Ridgeback Highlands. The Rook Commander and his underlings have been sent ahead of time to inspect an old cable car rig at the top of Paydirt Summit. According to the inspection, a new gear is required to get the tramway up and running. Once installed, the cable car can be a quick and safe way to get to the valley floor. Install the replacement gear on the Tramway's motor and send the Commander and his Rooks safely down to Deadrock Canyon.
Blue square indicates Cody's location. Yellow squares are Embermites; red squares mark each of the crates where the Embermites should be lured into. An image of one of those crates is also attached
NPC: Hopefully the Commander and his fellow Rooks survived the cable car crash. We need to get to them ASAP, but the only way to get to them is through the old Copperstone Mine. We are sending a Crag Scout who is familiar with the area. He will hopefully find a new path to the mine entrance, and will be waiting for you there with further instructions.
Set left switch so top gate just above switch is closed.
Get Emberite to follow, drop, run left and stand on left edge of switch platform. Use switch so mimic falls down.
Move right falling off platform. When mimic is moving into tunnel, move all the way to right, and have mimic come up. Either immediately or when mimic turns to move right, run left and shoot the switch by the Bandero Arkose, then continue right.
Get Emberite to follow, moving left, right, left. Drop through.
(Tricky part) Stand against the wall. Wait until Emberite turns around to move right. Run left (hopping twice) and shoot switch.
After Emberite passes, shoot switch so gate under the switch is closed, then move right to edge of ground (not getting on platform). When Emberite passes underneath and falls, move left.
This is considered the most challenging of the emberites needed to wrangle, especially if you are an aeronaut, because aeronauts cannot cling to walls.
Get Emberite to follow. Stay by wall until Emberite turns to move left. Run right over first ledge to second ledge. Let Emberite pass under and turn to left. Move right to right side of column and drop so can see Emberite pass (crags and Ferrics can cling). When Emberite falls off and turns left, move to edge of platform. Wait.
Move left to Pale Steed platform. Wait for Emberite to come up. have it follow on to top platform.
Move left so Emberite falls off left edge, then move all the way right.
NPC: Thanks to your work with the Banderos, Cody managed to blow open the blocked mine entrance. However, being sealed up many years, Copperstone Mine has built up a large quantity of Haze and fierce Mimics. A new type of Mimic the Banderos call Stingers have escaped from the newly-opened Mine. They have spread out across the Summit, including newly-accessible areas. We need you to exterminate the 15 reported Stingers while the Copperstone Mine continues to air out.
The blue line shows the fastest path to complete the quest; the white dots mark the Clampbrights (also showed on top left) and the red ex's show the path the player should avoid. The yellow square shows the circuit breaker.
NPC: Copperstone Mine is now fully aired out and accessible. However, the power inside is not functioning, leaving the mines in complete darkness. Several Rooks have tried to enter the mines, but they were quickly captured and thrown out by a strong Mimic lurking in the shadows. The Banderos told us of a circuit breaker that lies deep within the mines that should restore the power and the lights. We've found a few new Mimics that might help guide you through the darkness to the circuit breaker. When hit, Clampbrights close their shell and emit a phosphorescent glow for about 10 seconds. We need you to enter the Copperstone Mines and race to the circuit breaker before the shadow Mimic reaches you. Keep the mines well lit with the aid of the Clampbrights. Hurry and good luck!
NPC: Cody has vanished! He was last seen clearing a passageway in the mine. We hope that the shadow Mimic didn't have anything to do with Cody's disappearance. We need you to head into the newly uncovered passageways of the mines to find Cody, and possibly the exit.
NPC: Cody found some old schematics, which should help him get the door of Deadrock Canyon opened. However, the phosphorescent boulders that were blocking some passageways were actually hardened shells protecting small dormant Mimics. These boulders have shattered, and the new Mimics have become active all around the dark mines. These Mimics, called Shocksprites, are electrically charged, and could quickly blow a fuse, causing a blackout in the mines and hindering any progress Cody is making on the mechanical door. We need you to clear all the mines of Shocksprites before they blow a fuse. Beware, their wired charges can rendered you shocked.
NPC: We have finally gained access to Deadrock Canyon. We need to find the crashed cable car and locate the Commander and his Rooks, if they have survived. Once you have located the crash site, quickly return to Mission Deployment. Once we have your detailed analysis, we can send the Skylark team to retrieve the injured Rooks.
NPC: Mission Deployment has sent the emergency reconnaissance ship known as the Skylark to pick up the injured Rooks in Deadrock Canyon. When the Skylark team landed, only one injured Rook was found at the crash site, with a horrific tale of what happened to the rest of the group. Apparently, soon after you left, large Mimics called Black Recluses emerged from the webbed passageways and swarmed the Rooks at the crash site. 10 Black Recluses are scattered across Deadrock Canyon, each with an injured Rook in its claws. Hunt down these Mimics and rescue the trapped Rooks before it's too late.
NPC: The crash has been assessed, and it appears the brakes were worn dangerously thin on all the cable cars. The Banderos have offered to fix the cable cars if we supply them with the necessary parts. We sent a supply drop with the replacement brake pads into the area, and they should have landed somewhere at the top of Paydirt Summit. Retrieve the eight parts and take them to the Banderos waiting at each of the cable cars in Deadrock Canyon. Hopefully, we can get the tramway running again, clearing the path of the crashed car.
NPC: Thanks to the Banderos, the cable cars are up and running again. The crashed car has been removed, and now we can make our final press to the Skystone Remnant. We believe the Remnant lies deep in Deadrock Canyon, on the banks of the Blueridge River. Be careful as you travel, because one wrong move could send you down the raging river. The Banderos speak of a monstrous creature that lives along the banks called the Riverfang. Defeat this Guardian Mimic and retrieve the third Remnant! Good luck!
Reward: A New Sprocket (Skystone Remnants: Inscription), Bandero Boots, Ridgeback Highlands Trophy, 200 spores
Notes: Remember to unlock the River Checkpoint so you have easy access to the river if something happens. Upon unlocking this mission you gain access to the Secret Room, it is not neccesary to complete it first.
