Aeronauts can keep Blowgrubs at a distance while killing them, safely staying out of the range of their basic attack. Just don't let them get too close and you should be perfectly fine. They generally will stay in your line of fire if you don't move, but if they somehow move in a direction you can't hit on a path toward you, back off and get a new line of fire on them. You can also shoot up left or up right.
Since Ferrics have to get close to attack Blowgrubs, they are in the most danger. It should be simple enough to do a basic attack, before backing off and getting ready for another attack. Keep them stunned by hitting them, and you should have no problems. It's only recommended to use the divebomb attack if the Blowgrub is directly below you, or underneath a platform that you're standing on. UP + Slash can be a good help when you are fighting Blowgrubs and can't get enough horizontal space to use the regular slash. Spammin UP + Slash will still make the Blowgrub jump horizontally based on your relative positions.
Since Crags have a limited range of attack and can only attack in certain directions, it's slightly more difficult to keep control of the Blowgrub. Since this mimic is slow, however, there should be no problem in keeping it under control with basic attacks.
